When I first started out, I didn't want a generic name for the company. Andrew's delivery service didn't stand out enough for me. My girlfriend at the time was a big part of my life and I wanted to include her in the company some how. So I put her name right there front and centre. It was a way to show her how serious I was about having her in my life. Since then, we've married each other and have been together for over 15 years.
It wasn't easy in the beginning. I had one small van, a dolly and the will to work hard. The more work I did, the more I knew which direction I wanted this company to go. So I invested in bigger vehicles. Most of my clients have larger items to transport and the larger vehicles allow me to pick up several orders at the same time, something the original van couldn't do. This lets me be faster at getting deliveries done. Logistics is easier to sort out when I don't have to worry about space as much. Sure there are times when even the bigger vans get full and it's a big game of "Tetris" getting everything in and "Jenga" to get everything out, but I love the challenge.
Nobody really taught me how to run a business or how to stack items or secure them. I used common sense on most of it. People want fast, courteous service without anything being damaged. I heard so many horror stories of companies damaging things during a move that I made sure to have all the equipment on board to do the job right. I hired some people with moving experience when the jobs got bigger and learned from them as I went along. It didn't always work and when something happened, I made a note of what we did and adjusted accordingly. Even with that learning curve, I've never had an insurance claim.
So here we are, Andrew & Jenelle. We survived the tough years by working hard and showing customers we care. Now that we've settled in, we're here for good. The business will thrive as well as our love for each other. You've come to the right place. Welcome to Anjen Delivery Services!
